Artificial Agency Acquires Reflection Tree

Reflection Tree’s on-device collaborative planning system for the Unreal Engine 5 engine will fold into our generative behavior engine

Our First Acquisition:

At Artificial Agency, our goal has always been to create technology that empowers developers to make the games they’ve dreamed of making, but never had the resources to do so.

That’s why we’re so excited to share that we’ve moved one step closer to achieving that goal with our first acquisition, bringing Reflection Tree and its world-class technology into our ecosystem. Reflection Tree is an on-device collaborative planning system for Unreal Engine 5. We’ve consistently been impressed by what Reflection Tree has built: technology that can easily and elegantly handle the complex development/design issues that often bog down ambitious projects, such as multithreading, GPU caching, and resource management.

We are incorporating this technology into our product, so developers don’t have to learn an entirely new language. They can use the tools they’re already familiar with to build smarter, more unique games that will eventually run entirely on-device.

Welcoming a Friend

Beyond the tech, this acquisition is just as much about the team. We have known Reflection Tree’s founder, Alando Ballantyne, for years and have always believed in his vision and talent, so when the opportunity to finally work together presented itself, it felt like a no-brainer.

As part of the acquisition, Alando will join our talented team, bringing his invaluable expertise as we continue to refine our behavior engine and push the boundaries of what AI and generative behavior can do in gaming.

We’re thrilled to have him on board and even more excited to get these new capabilities into your hands.
